Greywater Recycling

Greywater is water that has been used in wash basins, baths or showers. This type of waste water can be easily treated and returned to flash the toilet, water the gardens and at times even supply water to washing machines. Water from flushing toilets, dishwashers, washing machines and kitchen sinks is excluded from the recycling treatment. The Environment Agency has useful information on all issues related to greywater and it can be used as a great starting point. There are other options than just installing a great big water treatment unit. You can simply re-use your washing-up water when watering your garden (plants won’t mind a bit of washing up liquid) or use a hand siphon pump to reuse bath water. A great way to beat a hosepipe ban!
