Shepherds Close Dell

Shepherds Close Dell - Rickmansworth

1.2 hectares of plantation woodland that can be found directly adjacent to the woodland cemetery section of Woodcock Hill Cemetery.

The woods consist of larch, Scots pine, Corsican pineashbeechoak and various minor forest species including Norway maplefield maple and cherry. Under-storey comprises of hawthornhazel and alder.

Deer and rabbits are present in all woods. Roe deer and muntjac deer are locally common and there is evidence of deer browsing of young tree seedlings. Control of deer is not considered to be necessary at this time although browsing of the tree regeneration will require monitoring.
