Greenbroom Spring - Rickmansworth

3.5 hectares of open mature oak woodland in the west that changes into a well structured woodland with ash dominating towards the eastern end.

Oak and ash dominate the canopy with a small element of larch. Associated minor species include cherry, birch, rowan, crab apple and field maple with some Scots pine. The under-storey contains hazel, holly, alder, elm, hornbeam coppice and bramble. Blackthorn is common along the woodland boundary.

Deer and rabbits are present in all woods. Roe deer and muntjac deer are locally common and there is evidence of deer browsing of young tree seedlings. Control of deer is not considered to be necessary at this time although browsing of the tree regeneration will require monitoring.
